Indigo Blue is a collective of six extraordinary individuals, each hailing from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds.

This fusion of unique talents has come together with a shared mission: to craft melodies, harmonies, and rhythms that resonate with all of us.

The genesis of this six-member band is rooted in a mutual fascination with contemporary elements and an unwavering aspiration to produce music that, though not yet filling the airwaves, is destined to be savored and evokes a sense of nostalgia for its organic essence.

Onstage, this eclectic ensemble seamlessly blends genres ranging from Rock and Jazz to the rich tapestry of African Tradition, the soul-stirring Gospel, and the infectious grooves of Funk.

The members of Indigo Blue are a group of young adults, each well-educated and accomplished in diverse fields, who have chosen to carve out time to explore and nurture a shared passion: MUSIC.

The name "Indigo Blue" symbolizes values such as peace, humanity, integrity, and love among all individuals, embodying the message and harmony that this band seeks to convey through their music.

BAND MEMBERS

Xavier Machiana

Vocals/ Guitars

Xavier Machiana is a musician, composer, actor, social activist and TV presenter. He was the vocalist, guitarist and composer of the band 'Rockfeller's, leading this Mozambican rock band to be considered one of the most influential bands in the panorama of modern Mozambican music

He embarked on solo career as a musician producing singles and later on hosting his own tv talk show "No Sofa do Xavier".

He has been involved in several social and comercial campaigns as a copywriter, creative director and score writer.

As an actor he has participated in short films, series, reality shows and advertisements in Mozambique, South Africa and Norway.

Silvio Ferrão

Rhythm and Lead Guitars

His journey and passion for the guitar began in 2004 at the Baptist Church. In that same year (2004), alongside Mozambican Professor Rock Jamal, the desire to play and start taking guitar lessons arose.

He became the musical director of the same church (Baptist Church). You began a new path as a guitar teacher at the Canzion Institute, Kitabu College, American School, and Swedish School.

As a guitarist, he collaborated with various national musicians such as Azagaia, El Puto, Kloro, Hot Blaze, Stewart Sukuma, Radjah Ali, Mark Exodus, Dama do Bling, Triofam, Gutoh, Idelsa de Carmen, among others.

Ray Mauele

Keyboards

Is a Mozambican musician, pianist and singer. His musical career began in the church, playing the piano in services from 1988. His musical influence comes from Gospel, Fusion, Blues and Jazz styles.

He formed the Banda Azul whose musical style was Afro Music that participated in the Music Cross Roads contest of which they were crowned winners and the prize was a tour in Sweden in June 2001.

He has participated in several albums of national and foreign artists. He was part of Banda De Maputo, that played concerts in Maputo and in Copenhagen. He was also part of Banda Kakana between 2014 and 2017.

Mole G Mussoco

Bass

Mole G MUSSOCO, is musician from Quelimene. His first appearance was in the Music competition: Music Cross Road Festival, in 2003, representing Banda Edy Azevedo, At the same time, he shared stage with several artists.

He participated in different musical projects, as a vocalist and instrumentalist.

In 2010 he entered the Eduardo Mondlane University, where he studied Music. In 2012, he joined several musical projects.

He has shared a stage with several national and international artists. : Hugh Massekela, Ringo -RSA, Sarah Bollinger-USA, Mayo Koja-Japao, Shooting Satar-Congo, Seun Anikulapo Kuti- Nigeria, Stewart Sukuma, Ghorwane, Euphuro, Jimmy Dludlu, among others.

Timoteo Cuche

Saxophones

Mozambican saxophonist, ethnomusicologist and educator. He started learning the saxophone in 1999 and received lessons from teachers João Senda & Orlando da Conceição (Mozambique), Will Ramsay (Germany), Petri Puolitaival (Finland) and João Martins (Portugal). He is a Lecturer on the Music Degree Course at Eduardo Mondlane University and Junior Researcher at the Institute of Ethnomusicology – Center for music and dance studies at the University of Aveiro.

Develops a PhD research in music, entitled, Musical practices, society and creative interactions in Maputo.

As a freelance musician, he collaborated with several musicians from Mozambique and other corners of the world. He is a founding member of TP50 and UEM Youth Band. He is part of the team of Curators of the Portal da Música Moçambicana (https://www.portaldamusica.org.mz

Ivan Ferreira

Drums

Ivan Ferreira was born in Mozambique. As a child, his interest in music was born, influenced by his father, Francisco Ferreira, who was also a drummer. He starts by attending the Jazz school of the Hot Club de Portugal, in Lisbon, where he develops his skills as a drummer/percussionist.

It is at this stage of his life that he meets several professional musicians and played in different places. In these shows, Ivan interprets different musical styles such as jazz, bossa nova and African music. He joined his 1st rock band Gandaia, an ensemble that performed covers by a wide range of rock and blues composers.

He currently resides in Maputo, where he has been working in projects such as Power Trio, DRP, Moz Tango.
